Small Business Week aims to help shops build on the small business boom

Coming out of the pandemic, the exponential growth of people starting their own businesses has continued.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — National Small Business Week runs from April 28 through May 4, and this year’s show of support and celebration came with a theme: “Building on the small business boom.”

WCNC Charlotte caught up with Dave Charest with Constant Contact.

Its a firm that helps small businesses with the resources and knowledge needed to get their shops up and running.

WCNC Charlotte is always asking “where’s the money?” If you need help, reach out to WCNC Charlotte by emailing money@wcnc.com.

When WCNC Charlotte asked what obstacles our entrepreneurs face, Charest said its more than the inflation causing headaches — it’s the uncertainty of appealing to shoppers.

“People are really trying to pay a bit more attention to their marketing because they know that getting the word out about their business has an impact on whether or not people actually choose to do business with them,” Charest said.

Charest added this year’s theme was fitting.

Coming out of the pandemic, the exponential growth of people starting their own businesses has continued. It’s a trend Charest said he hopes and expects will last.

Meanwhile, he has this to say on navigating the new issues sure to present themselves in the future:

“At the end of the day it comes down to communicating human to human,” he said. “Finding those tools that help you automate the right things, the resources that help you understand what it is you need to do, and just getting started by getting the word out about your business.”

Charest shared one thing to add to your to-do list this weekend: Go out and support your favorite small business.
