Missouri Department of Health advisory: cannabinoids risk health of youth
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Potentially dangerous and widely accessible hemp-derived intoxicating cannabinoids can be found in foods, beverages, supplements and more, according to the state of Missouri’s health department.
The Department of Health and Senior Services advised on Tuesday for people to avoid those products as availability increases. Consumers should only use cannabis-infused products from state-licensed dispensaries.
“It is highly concerning how accessible these products are to the public, especially our youth,” said Paula F. Nickelson, director of DHSS. “There is no way for consumers to know exactly what is in the product they are consuming and just how intoxicating it may be.”
The FDA also warns people of the dangers of unapproved or misbranded drugs.
