Community coalition offers a series of educational events in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month
CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (CHIPPEWA HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PARTNERSHIP PRESS RELEASE) – Chippewa Health Improvement Partnership, a local coalition that focuses efforts on improving community members’ health, is offering a series of trainings throughout the month of May. There are three types of trainings, all focused on mental health issues and how to support the individuals experiencing them.
These events aim to provide valuable resources to individuals and hope to foster a deeper understanding of mental health issues and promote positive mental well-being. “With mental health challenges becoming increasingly prevalent in today’s society” said Tom Diel, Mental Health Action Team co-chair, “these training events are designed to equip attendees with the knowledge and skills necessary to support those struggling with mental health challenges.”

Q.P.R. The Q.P.R. (Question. Persuade. Refer.) mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training. Just like CPR, Q.P.R. is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. Learn the three stepsthat anyone can take to save a life.
- May 1, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Lake Holcombe School
- May 28, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. – Chippewa Falls Public Library
Shaping Destiny Hear personal testimony from adults who have overcome Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) – and hear what youth have to say in lively, unscripted conversations. This session will include facilitated conversation after viewing the Shaping Destiny video.
- May 8, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. – Valley Vineyard Church, Chippewa Falls
- May 22, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. – Bloomer Public Library
- May 29, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. – Stanley Public Library
V.A. Save Learn how to support a Veteran in crisis. Know the Signs that indicate a Veteran might be thinking about suicide. Ask the most important question of all — “Are you thinking taking your own life?” Validate the Veteran’s experience, encourage treatment and expedite getting help.

Chippewa Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP) was established in 1994 as a collaborative community endeavor to improve community health and quality of life for residents of Chippewa County, Wisconsin. The partnership achieves its mission and goals by working through various initiatives, projects, and affiliated programs developed in response to the tri-annual Community Health Assessment (CHA).
